1088…that’s the number of neighbors who have walked through our Friendship ESL door, September -November.  Imagine the interactions, language learning, and prayers offered (by our prayer team) for these people, most of whom do not know what churches look like inside (ours being the exception).  Two new registrants recently from Myanmar– a young husband, wife and baby, Rohingya refugees.  We hope they have a long, helpful, and joyous time at COS.  All COS members are invited toattend the “end of semester” ESL Christmas parties this Wednesday December19, 10am, and Thursday Dec 20, 7pm.

COS 2018 New Psalm Contest – We are pleased to announce the winner of this year’s Psalm Contest is Noah McLaren, with his setting of Psalm 71, “All My Life.”  Thank you to the judges for their hours of work listening to and singing through all the Psalm entries.  The judging panel is made up of mostly COS members, all of whom have some combination of musical, theological, and literary training. We will welcome Noah to our worship service on Sunday, January 27, 2019, when we premier his winning Psalm setting.

To hear his Psalm, and other top choices from this year’s contest, as well as past year’s winners, visit the worship page on the COS website (www.churchoftheservantcrc.org/newpsalmcontest).  If you are interested in donating to the New Psalm Contest, contact Maria Stapert (maria.stapert@coscrc.org).

The Council is pleased treportthat there has been generous giving to the ministries of COS thus far in December.  Nevertheless, much of our financial challenge remains. If you have not yet responded to these needs, please do so now.  We praise God for his sustaining presence as COS manifests the reconciling power of thePrince of Peace.

The Living Water Stewardship Campaign

The Stewardship Team is pleased to give a positive progress report on our 2019 Campaign. To-date we have received170 pledges totaling $808,000!–Last year we ended the entire campaign with 173 pledges totaling $747,697. We thank those who have responded to the campaign.

With this momentum we have the potential to reverse a three-year downward trend in giving! However, to meet our budget for next year, we need more participation from the congregation. Simply put, more pledges at every level will ensure that we reach our goal. We encourage everyone to turn in their pledge form during the offertory, to the office, or to pledge online as soon as possible. Our goal is to secure at least $1 million in pledges to ensure our church has predictable cash flow throughout the year to support our ministries.

2019 ARTery Update: Exciting things are in store for the COS ARTery in 2019! We plan to do six Artery shows throughout the year: three featuring COS members & three highlighting artists in the community and beyond.

Starting January, shows will take place every two months with an evening gallery opening event on the second Monday of the month the show is installed. This will be an opportunity to hear from the artist and spend time experiencing the installation over wine and music.

Mark your calendars for Monday, January 14 at 7pm for our first event of the new year, featuring COS member and artist Gene Ellens.

We are also taking submissions for the2019 ARTery season. If you are an artist and a COS member or have a favorite from outside our church family that you’d like to recommend, we want to hear from you! Please email Lauren Figueroa (Lauren@LFdesigns.co) for additional information.
