The Pastoral Search team is hosting a congregational learning session on Wed., Jan. 18, 6:30-8:00 p.m. We will learn from Rev. Denise Posie, Pastoral/Congregational Consultant with the Pastor Church Resources office of the Christian Reformed Church, and Rev. Carl Kammeraad, a CRC Regional Pastor (or “pastor to pastors”) in the Grand Rapids area. Both leaders have served for many years as pastors of CRC congregations and now serve in roles in which they listen deeply to pastors and congregations who seek to discern God’s call.

Together, we will explore questions such as:

How can we shape our pastoral search to promote healthy ministry together?

How can we resist having impossibly high expectations for a new pastor, and from thinking that healthy communal life is entirely dependent on this one person?

How can we emphasize what God may be calling us to become rather than our own preferences for a given style of ministry?

We will also provide an outline of our search process, and be ready to learn from the wisdom and questions of participants. Following this event, we will provide a summary of our learning for the congregation.
