On Sunday, June 15, 2008, from 5:00-8:00pm, we had a special evening to honor Jack Roeda and reflect on Jack’s 25 years of service, 1983-2008, at Church of the Servant. The evening included a wonderful program and the sharing of a potluck meal.

We invited COS members and friends to gather their memories and reflections, and submit them for inclusion in a slide program (made into a DVD for Jack and his family), and a scrapbook of pictures and stories.

The evening was a wonderful time of fellowship, reminiscing, and expressing our love and appreciation for Jack, Carol, and their family. We also gave gifts to Jack: a $25 gift certificate to Starbuck’s, $250 gift card to Schuler Books & Music, an extra week of vacation, a $2500 scholarship in Jack Roeda’s name for a Calvin Seminary student for the 2008/09 school year, and of course the DVD (set to original COS composers’ music) and the memory book. There were some spoken tributes as well.

We have all been blessed by the longevity of Jack’s service. This was a wonderful opportunity to let the Roeda family know how much we have appreciated their commitment to our congregation.

You are welcome to watch a small version of the musical-slide-show-DVD below.
